ThermoNET
Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision and Smart Logistics for the Digital Transformation of Businesses
ThermoNET is an integrated programme promoted by RECO 3.26, in collaboration with PARSEC 3.26, within the framework of the Puglia Regional ERDF-ESF+ Programme 2021–2027, established to develop innovative solutions based on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computer Vision and Video Analysis to support security, smart logistics and the automation of industrial processes.
Through industrial research and experimental development activities, the project aims to create new technologies capable of recognising people, objects and behaviours, automating complex logistics processes and introducing advanced quality control tools, thereby contributing to the growth of business competitiveness and the regional innovation ecosystem.
Project Objectives
Smart Security and Recognition
ThermoNET develops advanced Artificial Intelligence algorithms to improve security levels in public and private environments.
Research activities focus on:
- next-generation facial recognition;
- anti-spoofing systems to prevent identity fraud attempts;
- person re-identification based on physical characteristics, movements, behaviours and clothing;
- automatic detection of anomalous or potentially risky behaviours;
- recognition of unattended objects;
- automatic classification of garments.
The objective is to provide technologies capable of increasing security levels, supporting access control and making monitoring and prevention activities more effective.
Smart Logistics and Flow Automation
The project develops innovative solutions to improve efficiency, safety and traceability in logistics processes.
Key applications include:
- automated inventory management through drones and computer vision systems;
- automatic identification of parcels and baggage;
- intelligent scanning of goods during shipping operations;
- automatic measurement of the volume of parcels and baggage.
The technologies developed may be applied in airports, logistics centres, industrial warehouses and transport hubs, helping to reduce errors, processing times and operating costs.
Quality Control in the Textile Sector
ThermoNET also includes the development of an innovative platform for the automated measurement of garments.
The solution will enable:
- automatic identification of measurement points;
- guidance for operators during dimensional checks;
- automatic verification of production tolerances;
- reduction of errors and quality control times.
The objective is to support companies in the fashion and manufacturing sectors in adopting more efficient, digitalised and reliable production processes.
